Self-Esteem Boost
by Rabbi Sruly Koval
The great Torah scholar and noted psychiatrist Rabbi Dr. Abraham J. Twerski OBM writes in both his Torah books as well as in his psychology books multiple times that over the years he noticed an interesting phenomenon: Sometimes the people who are the most gifted are the ones that struggle the most with low self-esteem. The reason for that is because self-esteem is not rooted in fact or reality. Rather, it is an emotion that the yetzer hara (negative inclination) uses to challenge and test us, and is usually not rooted with reality. G-d allows us to be tempted by this toxic force, which tries to make us feel unworthy.
